From June 13-16, 2023 the annual assembly of UNIFE was held in Madrid with the participation of 300 directors, general managers and other leadership members of the most important European companies in the railway industry. ALTPRO has been an active member of UNIFE for many years and continuously contributes to the activities in the working groups of that institution, as the only company from the region.

UNIFE is in Spain at a crucial time – as the country takes over the EU presidency, while in the middle of a general election campaign. The pressing issues in Spain are issues that engage the entire European rail industry – providing reliable local jobs, improving technological capabilities and enabling greater sustainability.

In order to best coordinate the railway industry’s contribution to overarching European goals, UNIFE members gathered in several dialogue panels during the event. In total, there were 6 panels covering a wide range of topics: innovation, sustainable mobility, cyber security, investment, quality and trade. These meetings provided an introspective analysis of the current situation, emerging challenges and potential opportunities for suppliers as they build the next generation of reliable, multi-modal transportation with rail as the framework.
